Grow explained: how the scenario calculator works

The exact timing rules and formulas behind the Grow calculator — and why it isn't a forecast.

5 min read · Updated 21 October 2026

The Grow calculator is an educational tool. It shows what would happen to a balance under a return assumption you choose. It does not predict, promise or guarantee any result.

How each month is calculated

  • Scheduled contributions are added at the start of the month.
  • The month's assumed rate is applied to that balance — it may be negative.
  • With compounding on, the result is added to your balance. With it off, positive returns are shown as hypothetical distributions; losses still reduce the balance.

Why include downside scenarios?

Real investments rise and fall. Compounding magnifies losses as well as gains, so we include flat, mixed and downside paths to help you see the range of outcomes.

Grow is not yet available to subscribe to. Product terms, fees, custody arrangements and risks will be disclosed in full before launch.
